Our Focus is on the Here & Now
“From One Christian to Another…”
As creatures of this earth, our focus is here in time and space. And yet, God lives in the eternal where there is no time. The psalmist in God’s Word says, “For a thousand years in Thy sight are like a day.” Our earthly journey to heaven begins the moment we take our first breath because ultimately, we will die and leave this earth.
All of Life’s Journey is Leading to Heaven
When we are young, our death seems so far away. But people die young all the time. Are you ready for your journey into the eternal? There is a nursing home that calls itself “Heaven’s Waiting Room.” When we know the Lord as our Savior and Friend, all of our life’s journey is towards heaven.
Focus on the Eternal
A number of people have had “near death experiences” called NDE’s. It changes their life drastically. Their priorities change because in addition to earth, they are now focused on the eternal. They care about what happens after they die. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No man comes to the Father except by Me.” There’s only one path to life with Him.
Where Will You Live in Eternity?
Whether or not you believe in Jesus, you will live eternally. The question is where? In heaven or in hell? The Heavenly Father cannot be a God of justice and ignore the evil in this world and those who reject the marvelous salvation He has offered. Jesus had to suffer horribly to save us. In God’s “strange justice,” the innocent Christ had to pay the price for the guilty. That’s us. The Heavenly Father has extended His marvelous grace to the undeserving. In grace, we are getting what we don’t deserve – forgiveness and a life with Him. In his mercy, we aren’t getting what we deserve – eternal punishment.
God is in Charge
I didn’t invent all of this. The truth is God calls the shots. And well He should for He made us to inhabit His universe. He freely gives us this marvelous salvation. Who are we to reject it? Can we really turn our backs on our bleeding Savior? Can we feel no remorse for the sins that weighed on Him as He hung there?
Lord, please give us eyes to see that we are all on our journey to the eternal.
Blessings on your journey of faith, anita
Beyond Myself: The Farm Girl & the African Chief
I describe my journey of faith in my memoir of my love story. During the 1960s, I married my anthropology professor who was a hereditary African Chief of the Mende tribe in West Africa. This led me to visit Africa a number of times and live in his remote village for a year with our 3 boys doing lay missionary work. I certainly didn’t do things perfectly. And yet, the Lord has been so gracious in my life! I can only praise and thank Him!
