Oh, That We Could Love God Perfectly

“From One Christian to Another…”

God’s Word says, “Perfect love casts out all fear.” Oh, that we could love God perfectly. If we did, we would eagerly accept His will and trust Him in all things. We would live our years in blissful peace. As the psalmist says, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.”

Life is Uncertain                                                        Feminine Modesty in a Tribal Culture - Women in Vahun

Life on this earth is uncertain. One phone call can completely change the trajectory of our lives. Yes, our earthly lives – but not our life with God. We are not promised perfect lives, but we are promised a perfect Savior who never changes. God’s Word says Jesus is “the same yesterday, today, and forever.” We are fickle creatures subject to moods and whims. Thank the Lord, He is not.

We need to be reminded each day of His Presence in our lives. We must listen to what He has to say in His Holy Word and bring our cares and needs to Him in prayer. Keeping close to Him is what it’s all about.

If We Fully Trust, Life Can Be Carefree      Anita in Vahun in 1973 - with Dr. Ben & Village

If we are faithful in doing this, our lives will be carefree. Yes, we will sorrow at times, but not as those “who have no hope.” We will fret and worry, but Jesus will carry our burdens. We will fear as we step out of the boat, but our Savior will reach out His hand to us and the “waves will be stilled.”

May this be true in your journey of faith and mine as well!  anita

Beyond Myself Book Cover by Author Anita Katherine DennisBeyond Myself: The Farm Girl & the African Chief

I describe my journey of faith in my memoir of my love story. During the 1960s, I married my anthropology professor who was a hereditary African Chief of the Mende tribe in West Africa. This led me to visit Africa a number of times and live in his remote village for a year with our 3 boys doing lay missionary work. I certainly didn’t do things perfectly. And yet, the Lord has been so gracious in my life! I can only praise and thank Him!
